Michelle: In what can be called an archetypal pilot episode for our half-jokingly named “pilot season,” Ariel & Michelle, having just gotten their hands on microphones, stumble through introducing themselves to an indeterminate audience.

Yes, this is the first episode of our podcast. And having already recorded 3 more, it very much feels like one. Sounds like one too, as we had yet to settle on our current recording setup. Listening back, it seems like we hadn’t settled on mic position either. 😂

Ariel: Yeah, and you can definitely hear me trying on what I think is a podcast voice in a few moments, and then fall out of it. The episodes that follow this one definitely start to take a more natural shape.

Michelle: I definitely agree. We really are a two-person team, so we want to thank you all for your patience as both our audio quality and confidence increase!

Season 1 of The Apprentice Dialogues is themed around public scholarship and creativity. In this episode, we take some time to introduce what public scholarship means to us and how we came to this shared interest. Topics include the social media landscape (and our complicated relationships with it), what counts as knowledge, and why the heck we started this project in the first place!
